Drawing a box over sensitive content and choosing blur or solid-fill permanently alters those pixels in the exported image — unlike a UI overlay in an editor, the original content underneath is genuinely destroyed in the output file, not just hidden by a layer someone could remove. That distinction matters: this tool is for actually removing sensitive content from a shared image, not for a reversible visual mark.
A solid-color box is unambiguous and fully removes the underlying pixels with zero ambiguity. Blur is visually softer but, depending on blur radius and the original content's contrast, can sometimes be partially reversed with the right tools on low blur settings — for genuinely sensitive information (account numbers, faces, exact addresses), a strong blur or solid fill is the safer choice over a light blur.
A strong blur is generally safe, but a light blur on high-contrast content (dark text on a light background) has, in documented cases, been partially reverse-engineered with specialized tools. For genuinely sensitive information, a solid-color fill removes all ambiguity; use a strong blur radius at minimum if you prefer blur's visual style.
No — the redacted pixels are permanently altered in the exported image file, not covered by a removable layer. This is a real edit to the pixel data, not a reversible visual overlay, which is exactly the point for anything actually being shared publicly.
