Fixing pages that scanned in sideways or upside down
Scanned documents commonly end up with individual pages rotated wrong — a page fed into a scanner sideways, or a whole document scanned upside down. This tool rotates by 90° increments (the only rotations that make sense for fixing orientation, as opposed to an arbitrary angle) and can target specific pages or the whole document, since a scan can easily have some pages correctly oriented and others not.
Rotation vs. the page content itself
Rotating a page changes its orientation metadata and how it displays, not the actual content within it — text stays selectable and searchable exactly as it was, images keep their original quality. This is a metadata-level change, not a re-render of the page.
Can I rotate just some pages and leave others untouched?
Yes — select specific pages to rotate rather than the whole document, which matters for scans where some pages came out correctly oriented and others didn't. Selecting individual pages avoids having to re-fix pages that were already correct.
Does rotating a PDF page reduce its quality?
No — rotation changes orientation metadata and display angle, not the underlying content. Text stays fully selectable and searchable, and any images on the page keep their original resolution and quality untouched.
Why would a PDF have some pages rotated differently than others?
Almost always a scanning artifact — a physical page fed into a scanner sideways, or a multi-page document scanned in mixed orientations. It's a common real-world PDF problem rather than something wrong with the file itself, which is exactly why per-page rotation exists as a fix.
